Facial and Dental Anthropology Laboratory

Our laboratory of dental anthropology focus on the following issues:

• Evolution of oral diseases: many of the current oral diseases and malformations originate in our remote biological history. Ignoring this fact may bear our ability to understand phenomena such as malocclusions (i.e., crowding, rotation, overbite), dental malformations (i.e., impaction, missing and supernumerary teeth) and oral diseases (i.e., caries, attrition, periodontal diseases). 
• Dental morphology and human evolution: enamel and dentine morphological characteristics became an important tool in the study of hominid fossils. In our lab, we are concentrating in teeth found in different archeological sites from Israel, in order to reconstruct their taxonomy and geographical origin.
