The principal role of the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine at the School of Public Health is to conduct research and to train graduate and medical students in public health, epidemiology, and preventive medicine.
The Department has broad expertise in epidemiology, biostatistics, and data management, which supports the School's extensive public health research on minimizing suffering, preventing illness, and improving quality of life.
The Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine offers three programs: MSc, PhD, and Postdoctoral Fellowship. The Department faculty specializes in many different fields of epidemiology, public health, and healthcare, including, but not limited to, infectious diseases, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and mother and child health.
Faculty members within the Department are also responsible for teaching courses for several of the graduate programs, the School of Medicine New York State/American Program, The School for Continuing Medical Education, as well as many other integrated curriculum programs in life sciences and medical sciences.
