Farewell to Prof. Nir Giladi - APPD Director and a Role Model in Medicine and Research
A world-renowned expert in movement disorders, a pioneer in Parkinson's care, and a devoted physician who dedicated his life to improving patients' quality of life and mentoring the next generation.
It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of APPD’s Director, Prof. Nir Giladi, a Full Professor in the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at Tel Aviv University and a member of the Sagol School of Neuroscience.
Prof. Giladi held The Yehezkel and Batya Sieratzki Chair in Neurology. He was Director of the Brain Institute of the Tel Aviv Medical Center - Ichilov. He was Associate Dean and a founding member and Director of the Aufzien Center for Prevention and Treatment of Parkinson’s Disease.
Prof. Giladi was an internationally recognized neurologist and researcher in the field of movement disorders, particularly Parkinson's disease, and a leading figure in the development of multidisciplinary care for individuals with Parkinson's disease.
He was an exceptional clinician, dedicated first and foremost to his patients, and a world-renowned researcher. Prof. Giladi led numerous translational research projects and devoted much of his time to studies focused on providing accurate diagnoses, slowing disease progression, and improving the quality of life for individuals with various movement disorders.
Over the decades of his tireless work, he also nurtured and trained an outstanding generation of neurologists and researchers in the field of neuroscience.
Thanks to his broad knowledge, uncompromising professionalism, empathy, and the optimism he radiated, he served as a source of strength and hope for countless patients and as an inspiration to researchers everywhere.
We share in the family's deep sorrow and join in their heavy mourning.
Prof. Giladi's contribution to the field of medicine and academia was immense, and his memory will accompany us forever.
